Why testing traditionally took four days
The standard three to four business day turnaround in this industry has almost nothing to do with laboratory science. Polarized Light Microscopy analysis of a bulk building sample is a matter of minutes per sample for a trained analyst.
The delay comes from everything around it: a firm books sampling for the next available day, the sampler batches several jobs, the samples sit until a courier run, the laboratory queues them in a standard-priority batch, and the report gets reviewed and issued on a normal administrative cycle.

Where the speed actually pays for itself
The value of turnaround is not convenience, it is avoided cost. A framing crew standing down for three days on an older-home renovation costs multiples of the test. A water mitigation job that cannot begin demolition accrues additional secondary damage every day.
A close of escrow that slips because a disclosure question is unresolved costs both parties. A demolition machine on standby bills whether it moves or not.
